"I see item on page 4 of H "89 $1.10/100 Tang."

paid $1.10/100

to Ayi for Tang Chung for European Constable No.89. I do not know

whether he is Inspector or Sergeant. He was at the Central Station

He has been paid 3 or 4 years, and the payment was golog on up to

the time that I was arrested. I think I have heard that he has

gone home. I think he has not returned. I think he had charge of

Wa Lane at Plague time. This list H is an old one. If I look at

E I can perhaps say. According to E I paid Tang Chung $18.90/100.

This was the daily payment I was making to fang Chung up to the

day I was arrested (19th. of 5th. moon). The amount increased

from time to time. I heard that the name of No.89 was Mano, but

it is only what I beard in the street. This No.89 has been here

ever since the house opened. "
